A Czech-made device called Vanquish, manufacturered by BTL Aesthetics of Framingham, Massachusetts, gets rid of belly fat without even touching the skin. The product was featured on ABC's The View back in 2014, and co-host Whoopi Goldberg tried it live on TV and then commented, "Let me tell you something: I'm not a big fan for products and stuff but this machine is magnificent!"
Does it really work?
Yes, it works, and more importantly, it has been approved by the FDA. The device uses radio frequency to kill fat cells. By heating the skin to 101 degrees, and the underlying fat to 120 degrees, it kills fat cells themselves, not just the fat within cells. So, once the fat cells are gone, they are gone.
A study of 25 patients who used the device had visible results even after the first treatment. After all four sessions, an average of 59 percent of abdominal fat was destroyed, resulting in a 2-3 inch reduction in waist size.
What are the side effects?
According to the manufacturer's data, there has been no nerve pain, and no damage to the top and middle layers of skin, hair follicles, muscles, or internal organs. Some patients have experienced a few days of mild redness and swelling.
How does it compare with other belly-busting alternatives?
Vanquish works by an apparatus with adjustable panels that are positioned around the areas of the body to be treated, like the abdomen, but don't actually touch them. The device's sensors read the patient's body fat and can adjust the energy level as needed. The advantages of this new system include:
- no surgery
- no injections
- no anesthesia
- no pain
- no bruising
How much does it cost?
Sessions are 30 minutes each and there are 4 sessions in the treatment program. The cost is $2,000. If there is a down side, the treatment is only approved for treatment of the abdomen, love handles, and back fat. Vanquish Fat Removal Clinic locations are available in almost every state.
