  2. Don't skip meals - starving yourself will only result in overeating or eating the wrong foods. Skipping meals does not help you control eating. People who eat 3 or more regular meals a day are more likely to end up consuming less calories.
  3. Don't add extra calories to your salad - salads are great, but be careful of all the extra calories you can add with calorie-rich dressings (ranch and Caesar), croutons, bacon and cheese.
  4. Don't go off your diet on the weekend - stick to your diet 7 days a week. Sure, you might think you've earned a few extra calories, but binging on the weekends will kill your weight-loss program and make it harder, or even impossible, to lose weight.
  5. Don't forget that there are calories in healthy food, too - many foods are very good for you but do contain more calories. Avocados, for example, are full of monounsaturated fat that can help lower bad cholesterol, but they also have over 300 calories. Enjoy these good foods occasionally only.
  6. Don't trade meals for snacks - snacking all day, even if it is low-calorie, healthy food, will not fill you up. You may think you are saving calories, but the risk is in hunger that hits you at the end of the day and leads you to overeat.
