7 important things to do in the bedroom
- Sleep - on average, people need 7-9 hours of sleep per night. So, when you go to sleep, make sure you have no distractions in the bedroom, such as the TV, computer, and other electronic devices. It's a fact that not getting enough sleep can actually lead to obesity.
- Sleep nude - many people do this, and it is actually good for you, according to the National Sleep Foundation, because it helps the body cool off at night, an important sleep factor.
- Slow down before hitting the sack - relaxing before bedtime will help put your body in sleep mode. Some have found it helpful to meditate. Meditation also boosts the immune system and relieves anxiety.
- Check out your body - put a long-length mirror in your bedroom so you can regularly check your body for any unusual lumps, rashes, discoloration or anything else that might not be normal. Get another hand-help mirror to look at your backside, too.
- Exercise - first thing in the morning when you get out of bed is the best time to stretch and do mild exercises to get your muscles loose and ready for the day's activities. It also improves circulation.
- Breakfast in bed - even if you can only do this a couple days a week, take time for an occasional, leisurely breakfast in bed. Try sipping your coffee slowly in bed, read the paper, and break into the day gently, even during the week. Harvard University studies show that the risk for heart attack is greatest in the morning, so ease into your day.
- Sex - the bedroom is also a common place for sex, which burns about 200 calories. Some studies have shown that men actually live longer with regular sex.
