Many people are under the impression that if you skip meals you will lose weight. Nothing could be further from the truth! A study by a leading market research company, The NPD Group, estimates that about 31 million Americans don't eat breakfast, and one of the reasons is to lose weight. Would you be surprised to learn that skipping breakfast can actually make you gain weight?

Why skipping breakfast does NOT make you lose weight

Think of it this way. If your body does not sense food coming in, your body's metabolism will slow down and hold onto the fat. It will go into starvation mode. The body's metabolism, or the rate at which the body burns fat, is only activated through eating.
