Most of us have heard all the good reasons to quit smoking. There is no denying it anymore; smoking damages your health in a number of ways. Even casual smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke can increase the risk of heart disease. One in five deaths in the U.S. every year are caused by smoking. And it doesn't matter if you smoke cigarettes, cigars or pipe tobacco. Smoking is smoking, and it's bad for you.

Smoking causes wrinkles

Here's another reason to quit. This will probably be of particular interest to women. Smoking speeds up the normal aging process and causes premature wrinkling of the skin. Yikes!

The nicotine in tobacco narrows the blood vessels, including those that flow to the outer layer of your skin. If you have smoked for ten years or more, you probably already see the signs of wrinkling occurring. And it's not limited to just your face but affects other areas of the body such as the arms and legs.

Yes, in addition to wrinkles, cigarette smoke can damage the natural elasticity of the skin. Once the collagen and elastin are damaged, the skin will begin to sag.
