Peppermint has long been known to be a natural cure for an upset stomach. Peppermint has been around for a long time and is now getting attention from the health industry.

In 2007, a study in Italy showed that peppermint relieves the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Patients with IBS who took peppermint oil in capsule for for just one month showed a reduction of 75 percent in symptoms such as pain, bloating and gas. Similar results were found in Australia where researchers found that peppermint relieves pain in the stomach and colon area.
