The key to beating cancer is early detection. A new breakthrough in cancer research could save your life. The new blood test can detect cancer in the majority of people with breast, colon, lung, and ovarian cancer, which are some of the biggest cancer killers.

Good news for cancer patients

Many people have cancer and just don't know it because they have no symptoms. But researchers at Johns Hopkins University recently revealed a new blood test that could detect cancer before patients even begin to show any symptoms.

The blood test caught cancer in 45 percent of lung cancer patients, 67 percent of ovarian cancer patients, and 67 percent of breast cancer patients. All of these patients were in early stage cancers, which means they now have a much better chance of survival.

Although researchers say the test needs further improvement to increase accuracy and scope of detection, the new blood test is good news and a step in the right direction to fight cancer and produce more cancer survivors.

The new study was published in the journal Science Translational Medicine.
