The reason why many people have trouble losing weight is because it's hard. It requires cutting calories, exercising more, and eliminating all those yummy foods you used to enjoy. Of course, these are still good ideas to lose weight, but there are other ways in which you can add to your weight loss without even trying.

5 ways to lose weight with no effort

#1 - Lower the lights: It's a fact that people eat slower when the lights are dim. One study showed that people eat about 6 percent less and 14 percent fewer calories in a dimly-lit quiet room than a bright-colored loud room.

#2 - Eat with friends: Another fact is that people who eat with normal weight friends with healthy eating habits will eat the same as their friends. Apparently, healthy eating and lifestyle habits rub off!

#3 - Keep a food journal: According to researchers from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, women who kept food journals were more likely to lose weight. There is something about writing down everything you eat and drink that seems to make one more responsible.

#4 - Go to bed on time: A study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal shows that the more sleep you get, the more you activate appetite regulating hormones. Too little sleep can cause fatigue and increased cravings for carbohydrates.

#5 - What color is your dining room?: Colors affect not only mood but appetite. Colors like red and yellow, used in fast food restaurants, increase appetite and make one eater faster. But a dining area painted in hues of blue will create the opposite affect, creating a relaxed environment that will slow down eating.
