6 Easy Ways For Couples to Destroy Their Relationship

6 Easy Ways For Couples to Destroy Their Relationship
According to Psychology Today, 40 percent of marriages end in divorce, and breakups among unmarried couples are even more frequent. It's not always the serious issues such as infidelity that break up the relationship. Other problems that often break couples apart are behavior patterns that create much damage in a relationship.

If you want your relationship to last, avoid doing these 6 things:

  1. Lack of trust: Trust is important in a relationship. Without it, couples will experience jealousy, possessiveness, emotional detachment, absence of support, and other destructive emotions and behaviors.
  2. Different priorities: Opposites may attract, but the more couples have in common, the greater their chance of staying in the relationship.
  3. Miscommunication/lack of communication: This is a big one. It's one of the top reasons why couples call it quits. Communicating in a negative way or not communicating at all can quickly destroy a relationship.
  4. Money problems: This is another big one. Couples often fight about money. Finances are a challenge, but it's important for couples to be on the same page when it comes to views on money matters.
  5. Growing in different directions: Couples often grow apart when they advance in their careers or socially at different speeds or in different directions. Communication is important to make sure both couples do not intellectually or socially grow apart.
  6. Abuse: Abuse can be physical, emotional or verbal. It's all negative and can very quickly tear couples apart. Even manipulation and control are forms of relationship abuse.
