Yes, baby food maker Beech-Nut has issued a recall on 2,000 pounds of baby food because there is reason to believe they contain pieces of glass. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), "using the product will cause serious health consequences or death," making the recall a Class I priority.

What was recalled

The product that was recalled was Beech-Nut CLASSICS sweet potato & chicken. The jars were distributed across the nation. Here is what to look for on the jars:

  • Jars with product numbers 12395750815 through “12395750821
  • Jars that have the number “P-68A” inside the USDA mark of inspection, with an expiration date of December, 2016

No one hurt

Fortunately, no one has been injured due to the contaminated jars. Only one report has been found so far with a jar containing a small piece of glass.

What to do

According to Beech-Nut, consumers who have jars with these product numbers should call the company at (866) 674-4446 to get a full refund, or return the products to the store where they purchased them.
