Yikes! These 10 Foods Cause Cancer -- And People Eat Them Every Day!

A carcinogen is any substance that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer. And carcinogens can be found everywhere, including the food we eat. As you will see from reading the list of the top 10, it is not necessarily the food itself but the way in which the food is either processed or packaged that causes the danger of cancer.

Top 10 list:
  • Microwave popcorn - microwave popcorn bags are lined with a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid ( PFOA) which increases the risk of kidney, bladder, liver, pancreas and testicular cancers.
  • Non-organic fruits - are contaminated with dangerous pesticides, including atrazine, thiodicarb, and organophosphates, and fertilizers with a high level of nitrogen.
  • Canned foods - metal cans are lined with an industrial chemical called bisphenol-A, or BPA. BPA can seep into food and cause serious health effects on the brain, behavior and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children.
  • Processed meat - this includes hot dogs, lunch meats, bologna, bacon and frozen food w/meat. Processed meats are loaded with chemicals and preservatives, including sodium nitrates, which are well known carcinogens.
  • Potato chips - potato chips are fried at very high temperatures to make them crispy, which triggers the formation of acrylamide, a known carcinogen that is also found in cigarettes.
