Do You Really Believe That Skipping Breakfast Will Make You Lose Weight? -- Stop Fooling Yourself!

Breakfast

Many people are under the impression that if you skip meals you will lose weight. Nothing could be further from the truth! A study by a leading market research company, The NPD Group, estimates that about 31 million Americans don't eat breakfast, and one of the reasons is to lose weight. Would you be surprised to learn that skipping breakfast can actually make you gain weight?

Why skipping breakfast does NOT make you lose weight

Think of it this way. If your body does not sense food coming in, your body's metabolism will slow down and hold onto the fat. It will go into starvation mode. The body's metabolism, or the rate at which the body burns fat, is only activated through eating. So, if you're thinking that skipping meals will eliminate calories, what you are actually doing is working against your body's natural metabolism and getting the wrong results!

Other reasons why eating is so important

The key to an active metabolism is to eat regularly. Of course, you also have to eat healthy, too. But regularly fueling the body's metabolism will keep it in fat-burning mode. There are other health reasons, too, for not skipping meals, especially breakfast. Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day because it gives you nourishment for the day.

Without breakfast, you could experience other unpleasant side affects such as:
  • Overeating - you finally get so hungry that you eat anything in sight.
  • Fatigue - without nourishment, the body cannot produce energy and you poop out early in the day.
  • Mental fog - skipping meals can make it hard for you to focus, lowers your concentration levels, and makes you less productive.
