They are rich in protein, high in fiber, no-fat and cholesterol free, and they are full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. But growing hair? Seriously?

Why beans are good for growing hair

Consider this: hair needs vitamin B6 and folic acid, magnesium, sulfur, zinc and biotin in order to grow strong and healthy. Guess what beans have? You got it. Too little Biotin, especially, can result in brittle hair. According to the American Diabetes Association, 3 cups of beans are recommended each week. Beans are good for the heart, weight control, protein, preventing cancer, keeping blood sugar low, keeping you full and regular. And they are so cheap!

Endless ways to eat beans

There are literally thousands of different types of beans in the world. This presents a great opportunity to try out different beans and different ways to prepare beans. They can be used as a main dish, such as in chili, a side dish, an appetizer, a vegetable with a meal, in soups, sauces and other dishes.

Experiment, have fun, but for sure keep beans in mind when planning your meals. Whether for overall health or growing healthy hair, it truly is a bunch of beans!
