If you're a man, you probably don't know what cellulite is, but women certainly do...and they don't want it! What is cellulite? It is persistent fat that accumulates just below the skin, causing dimpling of the skin, especially on women's hips and thighs. It is not attractive. Some people refer to it as the "orange peel" look.

What causes cellulite?

According to Howard Murad, MD, a Fitness Magazine advisory board member, "When blood flow slows, collagen separates, allowing fat to come up to the surface of the skin, creating an orange-peel effect." But don' be fooled by ads that promise a quick fix with creams and lotions. The best way to get rid of cellulite is through exercise.

How to get rid of cellulite

Any women can get cellulite, whether she is 16 or 66. The good news is that it can be eliminated. Exercise is the most effective way to reduce cellulite. The trick is to exercise all your lower body muscles from every angle. Exercises can include walking, bicycling, calisthenics, and raising and lowering the legs exercises.

Eat healthy

Of course, all that exercise may not produce the results you want if you are still eating fat-laden food. So, be sure to eat healthy and cut down on the fat. An overall healthy diet along with regular exercise is always good advice for overall health, not just to eliminate cellulite.
