4 Tips on How to Pick the Best Toothbrush to Keep Those Pearly Whites Clean

A toothbrush is a toothbrush, right? Wrong! Toothbrushes come in all sizes and shapes. Just like people! So, doesn't it make sense to pick a toothbrush that is going to do the best job on YOUR teeth?

Here are 4 things to consider when choosing the best toothbrush for you.

#1 - Texture - soft, medium or hard -- which one is the best? Most people think the bristles should be really stiff to do a good job. But, the truth is that soft bristles will do a better job getting between the teeth without making your gums bleed.

#2 - Length - some of the fancier toothbrushes on the market have curves and shapes that try to sell you on the fact that they will do a better job. But the truth is, whatever toothbrush is easier for you to grasp is just fine.

#3 - Size - toothbrushes come in all sizes. The key is to find one that is able to fit comfortably in your mouth and reach all your teeth, including the molars in the back.

#4 - Manual or electric - either can do the job. If in doubt, ask your dentist. He or she may recommend one with a round head, just like your dentist uses to clean your teeth professionally.

You don't have to spend a lot of money on a toothbrush. But you do have to use it often to prevent tooth and gum disease.
